Weekend Refresh: 23 Feet, Outdoor Slumber Parties and Home
Sometimes you need to hit the refresh button. And so you plan a city escape.
A personal screening of 23 Feet is certainly something to be thankful for, and somehow I conned the Red Reel ladies into bringing the Airstream out to my parents’s house out in the wild hinterlands of Western Washington. That’s what I call love.
Pop up a screen, turn on the Christmas lights and lay out some blankets on the hill and you’ve got yourself an outdoor theatre.
After a balmy, summer evening spent outside, it’s hard to return indoors. Fortunately the big yellow house if fully stocked with sleeping bags, perfect for a night under the stars with two best friends. No point in sleeping in the Airstream on an evening like this.
We fall asleep counting shooting stars and giggling over silly, exhaustion-induced stories. The night is quiet and calm, free from the sounds of the city.
I awake and stretch off a night of sleeping on the ground. It’s good for the soul.
We drive back to our regular lives, after less than 24 hours in this idyllic place, a place I call home. The waters of the sound glitter in the sunshine, reflecting the intensity of the blue sky.
The mountains in the background call out, waiting to be explored. Another time, another time.
Wow! Awesome setup, wish I had something like that, camper, the outdoors, and a good movie! Dig it!

Hadn’t heard of Red Reel before, but this is an awesome concept.
