Friday Photo: Canyon Love

A decade ago, I spent an entire month in the backcountry. I refused to go to sleep before seeing a shooting star.

Last weekend I was reminded of that time. There were no shooting stars, but the moon was bright, the night was clear and the red rock perfect for sleeping on.

Timelapse with no tripod...

We need these moments, even if they’re brief.

As work and adult life gets in the way of adventuring, it’s all the more important to commit to time away. To get outside, disconnect and breathe fresh air. To have your only concern be whether or not you should take care of that blister and, “holy shit, that mouse ate through the pocket on my hip belt!”

That’s when we recharge.

  1. Great photos, not much chance of similar outings in central London, but love the timelapse..
