She Dares

elle dare – elle ose – she dares

The French and English combination may have been completely unintentional, but the message rang true regardless.

Friday Photo: Ebb and Flow

with 2 comments

Stormy water hits a calm beach.

Nature is about balance; the coming and going, the ebb and flow.

This got me thinking about the ebb and flow of opportunities for risk that come and go every single day.

Every. Single. Day.

We are inundated with opportunities. The question is what we do with them.

It’s this simple: If I never try anything, I never learn anything. If I never take a risk, I stay where I am. If I go ahead and do it, that affects how much I continue wanting to do it. When I hold myself back, I trade appearances for the opportunity to find out what I am like. – Hugh Prather

Ideas Come When…

My ideas usually come not at my desk writing but in the midst of living. -Anais Nin

Ideas come when you:

say yes more often.
get outside.
drink coffee.
are open to inspiration.
dream.
celebrate the ordinary.
love.
surround yourself with creatives.
are intentional.
live passionately.

Portland Love

with 5 comments

It’s fall, and despite the warm air you can tell the rain will eventually get here. But for now the bike ride home is beautiful; quiet, still, almost balmy. The waterfront is practically abandoned as people have committed their evenings to activities that align with the season. With no one out except the few well trained runners, you can ride as fast or slow as you want with no interruptions. Lights reflect on the water and the warm air haze makes for a colorful sunset. It’s moment like this to love where you live.

An amazing cafe in Nevada City. A back patio surrounded by trees and filled with wrought iron chairs. A drink complete with bee pollen. A late winter afternoon spent sitting in sunshine.
