Google Earth Alphabet
These alphabets were made using Google Earth images all taken in the Netherlands. There’s even a punctuation and numbers version. It’s amazing what natural and man-made structures look like when seen from above.
Friday Photo: Direction

In the height of an autumn Oregon storm, I spent last weekend in the quaint coastal town of Rockaway Beach. I got up early on Saturday morning to take a walk, strolling down the small streets before most of the town was out of bed. I captured the still, morning moment in this weather vane, which stood still in the calm before the storm. The photo sort of fits with the name of this blog, je vais où?, a simplified way of asking “where am I going” in French. At a time of a lot of transition it was exactly what I needed to capture on film, forcing me to ask myself “what direction are you headed in?”…
Stormy Coastal Weekend

Spent a girls’ weekend out at Rockaway Beach, Oregon and we were lucky enough to be caught right in the middle of an epic Oregon autumn storm. The waves were enormous and fluffy mounds of sea foam covered the shore. Ocean spray rose high in the air above the crashing water, reminding us of just how powerful nature can be. Plus I got to borrow a Nikon D80 for the trip which always makes me happy.
The Best Camera: Photography For All

I had the sincere pleasure of meeting photographer Chase Jarvis the other night and had a very interesting talk about the ability of social media tools to democratize art, making it more accessible to all and encouraging everyone to explore their creativity. He recently authored The Best Camera is the One That’s With You, and from it has come a website and iPhone app that lets users shoot, edit and publish their images. The concept is cool, and although I’ve had my qualms about phone cameras, I’ve got to say that I like it a whole lot more than I expected. So here’s my first photo. You can check out other user submitted photos as TheBestCamera.com.
The more sites like The Best Camera that can encourage creativity in the world, the better…
Friday Photo: Autumn Leaves

Nothing’s better than a fall bike ride with an afternoon picnic beneath a colorful tree. This fall has been beautiful… I’m sure the rain will start soon, which will be good for hunkering down and accomplishing a lot of much needed writing.
Friday Photo: Fall Water Drops

Fall rain is a beautiful thing. This photo was taken at Eagle Creek, Oregon earlier this fall while out to catch the annual salmon run..
Friday Photo: Boat in the Harbor
Managed to take this picture my first day in Sweden, jet lagged and all. Taken at a small harbor in Långedrag, just outside of central Gothenburg.
Stockholm in Pictures
Surrounded by water and nature and flavored with old cobblestone streets and classic architecture, Stockholm is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Or at least I think so.
Here’s a little gallery pulled together from my last trip:

View From Above

Denmark from above
I love that moment right before a plane’s descent where you have a clear view of everything underneath you and what you’re about to experience. The feeling is a blend of excitement and anticipation if you’re headed somewhere new; happiness to come home and sadness to leave where you’ve been if you’re on the return.
This photo was taken last week flying over Denmark on my way to Sweden. The clouds and water were hit with sunshine in such a way that made the landscape look almost unreal. Impressive what one can shoot just out of an airplane window.
