Friday Photo: Nature Untitled

Back in January I submitted this photo collage to the END No Restrictions contest. It won an honorable mention and I scored a pair of END Stumptown 10 oz. (love them!), which isn’t bad for just putting a few of my favorite photos together. If you haven’t checked out END, it’s a responsible shoe company based in Portland, definitely pushing the envelope when it comes to business philosophy as well as sustainable design.
I named the piece “Nature Untitled,” as I felt the pictures spoke for themselves and gave a general appreciation of the simple beauty that can be found all around us, be we in a city or in the middle of a National Park.
Friday Photo: Colorful Stairs

These stairs into a flower shop in downtown Portland were covered in rose petals to celebrate Valentine’s Day. But I loved the color contrast of the reds and lime green that I couldn’t resist capturing it on film.
Friday Photo: What’s Inside?

I spent Sunday afternoon last weekend walking in the late February sunshine, tracking down interesting objects to photograph. Hidden behind an overwhelming amount of overgrown bamboo stalks was a small shed, painted in a turquoise clearly faded by the Portland elements. I love finding little surprises like this right in the middle of the city, but the doors were locked, and so I can only speculate as to what was inside…
Happy Friday!
Friday Photo: Urban Heart

A classic shot from a classic city (San Francisco if you couldn’t tell), and although I am not the biggest advocate of Valentine’s Day, I figured this image was fitting.
Need some Valentine’s Day inspiration that won’t require spending any money but just might make you a little happier? Write a love letter to chocolate, a contest sponsored by Portland’s favorite patisserie, Pix!
Friday Photo: Stop Driving

This is such a classic Portland photo, I just couldn’t help putting it up!
Friday Photo: Winter in the Columbia Gorge

I spent last weekend in Salt Lake City running around Outdoor Retailer meeting an overwhelming number of people from the outdoor industry. Although incredibly hectic, it was a fun time, and topped off by a slightly crazy drive back, consisting of icy roads and an overnight stay in La Grande (funnier when said with a Spanish accent).
This photo was taken just outside of The Dalles in the Columbia Gorge; a beautiful winter day.
Friday Photo: Ski Tracks

I know it seems that I have given up on this blog, but I haven’t! I just needed to take a break from technology over the last few weeks to re-energize and re-focus my creative efforts. But now I am back, with lots of good ideas and a healthy creative spirit; let’s hope it brings me good things in 2009…
As for the photo: somehow we managed to get an unheard of amount of snow over Christmas, so I dusted off my cross country skis that had been in storage and took them out on an adventure back and forth across the field at my parents’. There’s something special about being able to ski in your own backyard.
Friday Photo: Winter Sun

It’s been a wintry week in Portland… and this is one of my favorite shots!
Friday Photo: Winter Jars

This was taken at my parents’ house over Thanksgiving. My mother had creatively placed these mason jars on a metal table on our patio, and the morning air had fogged them up which I thought was really beautiful.
Happy Friday!
