Friday Photo: Direction

In the height of an autumn Oregon storm, I spent last weekend in the quaint coastal town of Rockaway Beach. I got up early on Saturday morning to take a walk, strolling down the small streets before most of the town was out of bed. I captured the still, morning moment in this weather vane, which stood still in the calm before the storm. The photo sort of fits with the name of this blog, je vais où?, a simplified way of asking “where am I going” in French. At a time of a lot of transition it was exactly what I needed to capture on film, forcing me to ask myself “what direction are you headed in?”…
Friday Photo: Autumn Leaves

Nothing’s better than a fall bike ride with an afternoon picnic beneath a colorful tree. This fall has been beautiful… I’m sure the rain will start soon, which will be good for hunkering down and accomplishing a lot of much needed writing.
Friday Photo: Fall Water Drops

Fall rain is a beautiful thing. This photo was taken at Eagle Creek, Oregon earlier this fall while out to catch the annual salmon run..
Friday Photo: Boat in the Harbor
Managed to take this picture my first day in Sweden, jet lagged and all. Taken at a small harbor in Långedrag, just outside of central Gothenburg.
Friday Photo: Seattle

Enough time in Portland makes you forget that it’s really not a big city… and then you take a trip up to Seattle with its many busy streets and numerous high rises, and you’re quickly reminded of what a large metropolis really feels like.
Friday Photo: Spring on the Coast

There’s nothing like a Saturday at the coast to enjoy spring sunshine. Indian Beach happens to be one of my favorite spots that’s not too far of a drive from Portland. Hit up the farmers market on your way out of town to stock up on goat cheese and fresh bread, and an afternoon picnic overlooking the seastacks could be my favorite way to spend a weekend.
Friday Photo: Eco Style

In the past couple of years we’ve seen eco-style go from the stereotypical hempy, sack looking garments to the chicest forms in fashion. One of my favorite brands, Nau, is at the forefront of sustainable design. Not only have they developed over 300 sustainable fabrics that incorporate alternative materials like recycled polyester, but everything they make looks cool. And that’s what makes or breaks an eco-fashion line now isn’t it?
I took this picture at a recent event at Lizard Lounge in Portland, which also houses the Nau team.
Friday Photo: Le Cafe, C’est Ma Vie

“La vie est belle, et le cafe, c’est ma vie.”
This stamp from the Fresh Pot on the back of the bags of Stumptown Coffee that the coffee shop sells is so great: Life is beautiful, and coffee, it’s my life.
